Not related to the post, but I saw you wanted ideas for green tomatoes. I don't have a Serious Eats account so I thought I'd just tell you here.I once saw Martha Stewart make green tomato pickles. She used pickling lime, but I'm sure there's more simple recipes that can be made without pickling lime. I suggest you look up a recipe for that maybe?
